STOCKMAN'S RIDGE 'PRIMROSE' SPARKLING PINOT NOIR CHARDONNAY ($35 / Orange Region)
Stockman's Ridge Wines was established in 2002 by Jonathan Hambrook in the Bathurst region of NSW but in 2012 the business expanded to the Orange region where the range of wine grape varieties was diversified and vinified by Winemaker Will Rikard-Bell.
The two current examplars for review are the 2022 Stockman's Ridge Primrose (prim-rozay) Pinot Noir Chardonnay Sparkling ($35) and the 2027 Stockman's Ridge Outlaw Chardonnay ($40)
Both these wines are from the cool-climate high elevation slopes of Mount Canobolas.
The newly released Primrose (prim-rozay) Sparkling Pinot Noir Chardonnay is named after Jonathan and Lisa Hambrook's daughter & the write-up declares that "it symbolises renewal, youth and optimism".
If effervescently channels aromas and flavours of strawberries and Moroccan spices. The mid-palate astringent acid freshness and abundance of flavours makes it a great match to both sweetish and savoury dishes. It's a refreshing sparkling to be enjoyed over the imminent warm season.
