 MAYFIELD VINEYARD 'THREE BOYS' CABERNET BLEND 2022 ($30 / Orange NSW)

This Cabernet Sauvignon / Franc & Merlot blend from the cool-climate region of Orange opens up with wafts of smoky leather and mint. On the palate it presents a profile of stewed cherries and blackcurrant. The grippy mid-palate astringency is a slight distractor. A touch of forest floor funk shortens the finish.

However wine should be food-friendly and this 2022 Three Boys Cabernet blend worked well with our grilled lime pickle-smeared pork chop.
