SAPLING YARD PINOT NOIR 2023 ($38 / Tumbarumba, NSW)
This current Sapling Yard Pinot Noir 2023, sourced from the cool-climate vineyards in Tumbarumba, has all the brooding potential to develop into a wine of heft and quality, one worthy of medal consideration.
It has an abundance of defining characteristics e.g., red cherries, dried herbs, French oak pencil shavings and natural acid astringency.
However it needs bottle sleep and judicious cellaring to allow for melding and integration of all its undeniable attributes.
I look forward to re-visiting and enjoying this Pinot Noir of promise in three to five years.
