MAYFIELD VINEYARD 'JONTY MET OTTO' 2023 CABERNET FRANC ($37 / Orange, NSW)
This Bordeaux blend varietal is finding traction in its own right, in the cool-climate region of Orange (NSW).
This current Mayfield release celebrates the first encounter of the 2 Simons siblings.
It opens with typical lifted varietal aromas and flavours of cherries, tobacco, pencil shavings and a slight mid-palate herbal grip.
It's a ripe, medium bodied Cabernet Franc well suited to charry chicken or pork mince dishes.
Ours was matched with a mixed cheese platter, especially the Manchego.
