HUNTINGTON ESTATE TIM STEVENS SIGNATURE SHIRAZ 2019

HUNTINGTON ESTATE 'TIM STEVENS SIGNATURE' SHIRAZ 2019 ($100 / Mudgee, NSW)

93 Points

This Signature Shiraz, with 6 years of development, is a nod to the old-school boomer style that exemplified the reds from the Mudgee region and cemented its reputation for grunty wines.

The mulberry purple colour leads to a nose and palate channeling plums, raisins, Italian dried herbs and vanillin cocoa.

On breathing it unfurls some complexity and richness of palate flavours, helped by the  (declared) 14.6% alc.

The finish is generous, ripe and clean.

This current Tim Stevens 2019 release might not appeal to those who favour the more trendy moderate styles of red wines.

However it is a traditional 'steel fist in a satin glove' Shiraz, well suited to hearty roasts...or to slow-cooked beef brisket as we had.
