It's mulberry coloured and mid-bodied in palate-weight. Initial hints of tobacco and tomato-leaf lift the initial nose.
The warming (declared) 14% Alc allows the varietal flavours of maraschino cherries, dried herbs and mushroom straw, to coat the mid-palate. The tight, savoury vanillin tannic grip and glycerol glide makes it immediately food-friendly.
It's one to be shared on opening.
