ALLANDALE HUNTER VALLEY SEMILLON 2017

ALLANDALE SEMILLON 2017 (Hunter Valley, NSW)

Patience has its own rewards..I seem to remember a version of that idiom from another vinous source 🤔 Here, this saying is ideally exemplified by this sublime Allandale 2017 Semillon Traditionally, Semillon is recognised as the Queen of white grapes in the Hunter Valley region.

This one has been judiciously sourced from 4 notable Hunter Valley vineyards. Picked early for zing and freshness and precisely crafted by celebrated wine makers Bill Sneddon and Alex Woods, this Semillon has blossomed from a shy and restrained crisp wine to a well-integrated ' Iron fist in a velvet glove ' delectable drop. It is now sensuously smooth and redolent of the expected classy varietal minerally accented traits of straw, citrus and mixed herbs. It is fulsome and generous in its aromatic and palate delivery. It finishes long, zesty and mellow.

We enjoyed ours with a charcuterie platter. It was certainly worth the bottle-sleep time and my patience was amply rewarded. It would be worth contacting the Allandale Cellar door for any museum stock.
